The word 'Static' can be used as an oxymoron. It can mean something is fixed, grounded and lacking in movement. Still, it can also be used in reference to electrical signals of radio frequency, a crackling or hissing noise, moving and vibrating image or sound of varying pitch and tone. This word for me is a metaphor, conveying different perceptions of time. The geological landscape appears fixed from our own perspective, yet is in constant flux, from a geological perspective of time.
